Dendrology of Scotts Run

Below is the trees of focus in Scotts Run Watershed. There is a drastic mix in types of habitat for both flora and fauna, but I decided to focus on the area of the Scotts Run Nature Preserve. Included are slides on each individual species.

  • Scarlet Oak (Quercus coccinea)
  • Chestnut Oak (Quercus montana)
  • Spicebush (Lindera benzoin)
  • Yellow Poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera)
  • Pawpaw (Asimina triloba)
  • Bitternut Hickory (Carya cordiformis)
  • White Oak (Quercus alba)
  • Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra)
